'Vanderpump Rules' Stars Share Insights on Coming Back to the Show After the Scandal and Their Present Relationship with Tom Sandoval

After a tumultuous tenth season that sent shockwaves through the reality TV landscape with the Sandoval-Leviss cheating scandal, Vanderpump Rules returns with its eleventh season. The West Hollywood friend group grapples with the aftermath of the explosive affair, leaving Ariana Madix, whose decade-long relationship with Sandoval was thrown into turmoil, to navigate the emotional aftermath.

Speaking at the Vanderpump Rules premiere event, Madix revealed, "There was almost zero life lived in between the reunion and when the new season starting filming, so at that point my mindset was just to be me — to be honest with where I’m at, what I’m feeling, if I’m having a good day, if I’m having a bad day, to just be me and not be worried how things are going to come across."

Sandoval approached the new season cautiously, feeling like he was "walking on eggshells" on the first day of filming. The emotional aftermath of the reunion, shot in late March, lingered, making the experience emotionally challenging. Lisa Vanderpump, both a participant and producer of the series, humorously shared her apprehension, stating, "I wanted to hide in the cupboard" during filming. She assumed the role of a peacekeeper when the group reunited with Sandoval.

The new season will notably miss Raquel Leviss, who decided not to return. Executive producer Alex Baskin explained, "Everyone else was pretty on board and game to do it, and she wavered, and we sort of got to the point of the season where it was pretty clear she wouldn’t be a part of it, but the group had kind of moved on anyway."

The cast also touched on various current headlines, including the legal dispute over Tom and Ariana's house, the status of the Something About Her sandwich shop, and the group's current relationship with Sandoval.

Reflecting on Sandoval, Lala Kent humorously remarked, "For me, I filmed this show for eight years now, and I think maybe two of them I tolerated Sandoval, and the rest of them I never really wanted him around, so there wasn’t much of a difference for me." However, she hinted at a shift in dynamics, saying, "I think people will be torn on how they feel."

James Kennedy acknowledged the relationship with Sandoval could be better, and Sandoval himself playfully stated, "Everybody loves me — just kidding. I think I’m the person you hang out with, and that person makes me sign an NDA, that’s where I’m at right now."

As the eleventh season unfolds, viewers can expect a continuation of the drama and dynamics that have defined Vanderpump Rules throughout its reality TV journey.
