Mahasthangarh is an archaeological site located in Bogura District, Bangladesh. It is one of the most important ancient cities in the Indian subcontinent and is considered the earliest urban archaeological site in Bangladesh. Mahasthangarh dates back to the 3rd century BCE and was the capital of the ancient Mauryan Empire.

The site covers an area of around 2 square kilometers and contains the remains of an ancient citadel, a fortified encampment, and various structures, including a massive earthen rampart. Archaeological excavations at Mahasthangarh have revealed artifacts, pottery, and structures that provide insights into the historical, cultural, and architectural aspects of the region during different periods.

The site has also been identified with the city of Pundranagara, mentioned in ancient Sanskrit texts. Mahasthangarh is recognized as an important archaeological and historical site, and ongoing research continues to uncover more information about its significance in the ancient history of the Indian subcontinent.
